Sports facilities Aachen and Sprockhövel completed in record time

The sports facilities in Aachen-Lützow and Sprockhövel-Gennebreck were renovated in a very short construction period.


Nordrhein-Westfalen awarded the contract for the reconstruction of the old sports facility at the Lützow-Barracks. Soldiers of the Bundeswehr are the users of the facility.

A comprehensive refurbishment was carried out at the Lützow barracks. The works included the renovation of the old sports field, the construction of a small soccer field, the renovation of the 400 meter running track and the long jump facility, the construction of a stone shot putting system and a beach volleyball field. The contract was worth 520,000 Euros. From the placement of the order to completion took only five months.

In parallel, the sports complex Sprockhövel-Gennebreck was renovated in four months. The contract was worth 440,000 Euros. The user of the sports complex is the soccer club VFL Gennebreck. The works included the conversion of the old soccer field into an artificial turf field, the construction of a new track and the improvement of the long jump run-up surface.

The weather-proof track, 62.00 meters x 2.50 meters, received a new plastic coating as well as the run-up surface of the long jump pit. The order included the construction of a new grandstand and the construction of a modern lighting system and was completed with the installation of ball catch fences.
