Worth millions - Sport Park in Wendlingen with sports facility, stadium and training fields.

It is paradise for all enthusiastic sport-loving people, said the mayor of Wendlingen Frank Ziegler, obviously proud of the 7.3 million Euro Sport Park next to the open-air pool facility.

In beautiful weather, representatives from the federal, state and local governments as well as delegates from the district, clubs, churches and the twin cities appeared for the inaugural of the Sport Park. The facility contains beside the new sports facility, a stadium, training fields, a Finn track and a multi-purpose sports field.
On September 26, 2009 the managing director of Design & Planning Knecht in Ludwigsburg, a subsidiary of Sport StadiaNet GmbH, Dipl. Eng. Architect Jochen Wilfert symbolically handed over the key to Mayor Frank Ziegler for the new Sports facility. The facility was completed approx. one year ago. With the new optimal training conditions, Mayor Ziegler sees the city well positioned in the competition.
The total useful area of the sports facility with adjoining rooms amounts to 2,026 square meter. The sports area measures 23 x 45m and is divided by a curtain. With the implementation of a heat pump with 13 deep drillings of 140 m each, an air-ground heat exchanger as well as a photovoltaic system with an output of 78 KW peak, Wendlingen's Sports hall belongs to the most modern generation in sport facilities and provides an energy balance. The costs of the sports facility is with 2.700.000,- Euro, inclusive incidental expenses and equipment, compared favorably with other projects. At the inauguration weekend a soccer tournament with teams from Wendlingen's twin cities took place in front of an enthusiastic crowd.
